Christian Baptism Signifies Spiritual Cleansing & Rebirth into a Christ-led Life.

Baptism marks the beginning of a lifetime journey as a Christian. During the service you, or your child, will be symbolically cleansed with water – this marks the start of an amazing exploration of faith. You can be baptised at any age. It is also a special day for your friends and family.

When young children are baptised (often called a Christening) it is their parents and Godparents who affirm their faith. You will be asked to say that you believe in God and will bring your child up in Christianity. Church of England Christenings has lots of helpful guidance on what baptism means, a step-by-step guide to the service and advice on how to prepare.

Alternatively, you can have a Service of Thanksgiving which blesses your child. This lets you say thank you to God, without the extra commitment and promises which baptism requires. You can choose to have a baptism at a later date if you wish.
